MUR 012 | HEDY LEUNG || STARLIT ETHNOBOTANICAL WONDERS
"Starlit Ethnobotanical Wonders" is an enchanting exploration that that combines ancient knowledge about plants and their traditional uses with the complex world of nighttime pollination. Hedy’s project is based on ikebana, a Japanese art of flower arranging, and includes performances and workshops that tell a story connecting people, nature, and the healing power of herbs.
The residency program idea revolves around the symbiotic bond between humans and plants,. It takes inspiration from ancient wisdom and island traditions, and explores the connections between ethnobotany (how people use plants), herbal medicine, and nighttime pollination.

Hedy Leung is a holistic practitioner and a member of the Sogetsu Teachers’ Association and Ikebana International Switzerland (Basel Chapter). Her work explores synergies between humans and nature through sound, plants, and Sogetsu Ikebana. She has participated in art and cultural projects, as well as artist-in-residency programmes in Europe. Besides her artistic practice, she explores energy balancing through BioGeometry Advanced Training. Leung is a certified senior Chinese medicated food dietitian with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Diploma in Practical Chinese Medicine Nutritional Studies.
